Here I will record any practical development of my work, through appropriate contextual research. I will post up anything I find interesting or relevant with regard to my current collaborative brief.

Wooden beads and last weeks crit evaluation..

Hayley and I have been thinking more into our freebee bead idea. After having our crit last week we realised that the bracelet idea was too girly and that it probably wouldn't be very successful from the feedback we got from our peers. However, we are now looking to try and adapt the bead ideas so that the customer can use them for more than just a friendship bracelet. There are many alternative uses they could be adapted for, such as adding them to your mobile phone, key rings and bags. We feel that this is more of a promising idea as we both felt that by pursuing the friendship, make a wish bracelet idea would limit our audience and not successfully answer the briefs requirements.
We also looked into loyalty cards. However, we came to the conclusion that they weren't really necessary. The concept behind having a loyalty card was to gain 6 stamps which you would receive on purchase of each drink. A free drink would be rewarded you having completed the collection of all 6 stamps. One of our ideas in order to receive a free drink was that customers would have to collect a number of bottles and hand them all in to be recycled or customers would have to collect all the bracelets to then be granted a free drink. We also felt that this needed a bit more thought. We are currently investigating into the bead idea further and looking at how we might give them away with the bottle. The cardboard cone to go around the neck of the bottle seems our most promising idea so far and after looking at existing promotional ones for other brands, it has given us lots of inspiration!

Here are some wooden beads. Enjoy :)
